I'm reassembling a pair of 208's and the fit up between the planetary and annulus seems a bit sloppy even with all thrust washers and the bushing in place. Is some axial slop between the two acceptable or does this indicate thicker washers are necessary?

I dont remember how much slop there is there but I know the replacement parts are available. I replaced the annulus bushing in my initial 208 rebuild several years ago. I believe I got the bushing from www.drivetrain.com

I replaced the annulus bushing last evening and it tightened the assembly up radially. The thrust washers are in good shape but there is still some axial play that could be addressed. I'd need to spend some time with an additional washer and a lathe or bench sander to take up the slop. Not sure I'm inclined though. My local trasmission supply company indicated this is normal by design....

All the 208 planets that I have looked at were loose fitting, thats the way it is.The 241 is a much better design IMO but the 208 has been a dependable case for many.
