Any buddy have an idea in how much work this actually is?? I'm pretty sure my problem with staying locked in 4hi is stemming from this. But don't want to dick with it if it's a huge under taking. Tried searching but didn't really get mch

If it's a 10 minute job thn I'll be more excited to get goin on it
Thanks for the help!

While I haven't tore into the inners of an NP208/241 myself yet it won't be a 10 minute job since you have to split the case. However, i've been told that tearing these cases apart and doing any kind of repair is pretty easy and straight forward. :thumb: Also, broken or missing shift fork pads usually allows the t-case to pop out of gear not get stuck in gear.

Wow I screwed that up. Yes the problem is that it will not stay liked in 4hi, it'll engage and then pop out after I hit the mud so just dig. Very annoying. It was actually your posts in other threads that helped me determine that was my problem.

My question now is, do I wanna put the effort in to rebuilding my 208, when I could just wait and go to a 205 or a 241 as both of those have SYE options, and that would solve my fork pad issues as well...?

If you want a SYE then I would search for a 241 case since it would be a direct replacement for your 208. The 208/241 aren't as bad as people make them out to be, you just need to remember that it is an aluminum case so don't go dropping the rig down onto rocks and land on the t-case. You could always repair your 208 in the meantime while you keep your eyes open for a 241. Keep in mind though that the 241 you need is a 1 year only unless you want to swap over the the electric speedo.

That's what I was thinking, been looking for a 241, figured I would just skid plate the crap outta it and hope for the best.
Haven't seen any inmy range tho. As far as the speedo goes, I bought mine without a speedo hooked up and the gauges I just bought came with an electro speedo. I haven't gotten far enough to figure out how to hook it up yet. I dot even know how I'd hook it up to my 208 tho

I just did a guage swap and went from mechanical to electric speedo so I could help you with that when you're ready. It was actually pretty easy.

I guess it'll depend on how things shake out with me getting a 241 vbs keeping the 208. Is a sye really worth it for the cost?
