NP208 SYE hack & tap

Well I bored the slip yoke and it's surprisingly soft:D I also made a plug to weld in, I'll do that part tonight at home and take some pictures.

What ever you do though do NOT buy the part from arizonadriveline or driveshaft superstore.com.


The guy running the place into the ground passed away. They had also opened a shop in mexico to build many of their online orders. Oscar and his wife had also taken out a huge loan against their phx building.. then stopped paying for it all the while they planned to skip town and operate out of mexico where they had another home, boats and what not.



Well.. Oscar passed and the employees in mexico had also not getting paid or some other drama.

Long story short... the employees won in court and the tools and materials were liquidated. I noticed they dropped their mag advertisements but i hear they are still operating in phx. Buyer beware!

Well I haven't welded it up yet but I don't forsee any real problems and I might change the name of this thread so as to maybe help someone else someday. This is really easy up to this point and cheap, I'm not even sure you can't just weld up the stock freeze plug and call it good.

So I bored it a 1/4" deep and 1.625 diameter with a nice chamfer for the weld, then made my plug .20 thick with a nice chamfer also. I will drill my hole on the lathe at work after I weld it up and decide what size bolt to use.

Also I'm not so sure it's a 2 piece yoke anymore, after boring it I think it's all 1 piecenow.

Is the U-joint cup gonna clear the bolt head?

Eyeballing it I say yes but we will soon see. Putting it togeather is gonna be easy I think beacuse I can just use a seat clamp to install the caps with the slip yoke bolted up but the removal will be a little tricky unless you want to beat them out while it attached to the t-case. I think you could lossen up the slip yoke bolt though and pull the whole thing and do it on a bench though. Again will see:D
 
Might want to hedge your bets a little and go with a button head cap screw.

I was just about to say that it is going to be difficult to install a joint into that style of Yoke while attached to a driveshaft. The factory bolt on Yokes are like a rear 205 Yoke in that it uses U-bolts to attach the U-joint.

all that work and i would of shipped you a factory 32 spline yoke for fixed yoke.

its a strap style tho.
 
Yeah the bolt on style would be way better but this is what I have, actually I have 3 of them:DI would actually hunt down the other style before buying the kit anyday.
