I'm a long time Chevy man, but just recently have gotten into building a 1980 K-5 as a purely off-road machine. The starter vehicle comes with a NP208 from a 1984 or 1985 K-5 that was equipped with a 700R4. I have two TH350s (both late 70's) and was wondering if the 208 is a direct bolt up to the TH350 using the adapter plate from the TH350 or the 700R4? I am posting this question prior to purchasing the base K-5 to start. Both 350's were orginally coupled to the bohemouth full time TC (which I still have).

If my memory serves me correctly the back of a 700R4 has 5 bolts instead of 4 like the TH350 has, so you would have to use a different adapter. The output shaft is also longer on a 700R4 so the one in the th350 would have to be swapped.

I've had this setup before and it took an adapter to do it. the adapter causes the overall lenght to be the same and you do not have to mess with drivelines.
