Where can I get the driven gear that is on the output shaft on the np208? It is about 4" long. Thanks

I got one a couple years ago from the dealership.

Unfortunately that's where I got the wrong gear. They gave me one for a 2wd 700r4. But I can always go back and talk to them again.

got mine from the dealer too
I had to get the black gear...don't remember how many teeth
I just found the box for it outside in the shop
the GM part # is 1362048 for the black gear

I went to the dealer and they told me $180 for the gear. Way too much. I think I'll stay with the 7 mph faster reading.

he looked up the wrong thing. Go to another dealer...yours obviously doesn't know what he's looking for.
Mine cost $7.
What color gear/how many teeth are you calculating that you need ?

that's the drive gear right ? have you confirmed that's what is installed ? My 87 has the blue gear installed. The gear on the shaft is the drive gear, the gear that pulls out of the side (where the speedo goes in) is the driven gear.
Then I just used this website to find what driven gear I needed (which was black for me )

they list thier part #'s, and the OEM #'s also
that gear is only around $10 anyway not what the dealer quoted you

The drive gear is what I need. I believe mine was blue. How many teeth would that one have. The gear is bigger in diameter as well as length.

The blue one is 18 tooth . After reading this I investigated mine , thought I was gray , but tore into mine this morning and I am blue too . For my 3.73 gears , and approx 32.5 tires I need a 42 tooth to correct . Try these :

have you changed your driven gear, if so how accurate is your speedo? Did you need anything else to swap your driven gear?

all I changed was the driven gear..mine is right on the money according to my GPS
I have heard also it is better to actually measure the diameter of your tires, not just go by the rated size. I measured mine and it worked fine.

I haven't changed mine yet , but your post made me check into mine , now I am going to get a 42 tooth gear to mate with my blue one /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
