I have a NP241 in my Blazer that needs a new chain, bearings and seals. I have a NP231 in my garage that is ready to go but it has a mechanical speedometer drive. Can I swap the tail housing, speedometer gear and vss from the 241 onto the 231?

i doubt it very seriously.

maybe just maybe you could swap the gears and chain into the 231, but i dont think it works the other way.

Will not work the 241 and 231 are two different cases with the 231 having the weaker parts. The chain in the 231 is shorter than a 241 chain. If you get some time go to a junk yard and look for an 88-95 241 for the guts to fix yours I had to do this on my 241 in my sub. I found an 1994 year model case that had been split open in an accident but the internals were perfect. If you try it and see what happens. Good luck
