Has nothing in 2wd, wont move, drives fine in 4wd. Assuming its just front wheel drive. thought it was tranny ay first so i got lucky in my mind. i have another one but what would you all suggest i do to fix this one, rebuild kits? Hunting down NP205. must have broke when i pulled a buddy out today, he was in slough and i was on thick field grass pretty dry, i figured the new tsl boggers would claim something with that combination!! Any suggestions??:doah:

The chain isn't needed for 2wd...only in 4wd. My guess is you broke something in the rear axle. Possibly the spider gears.

If you poped the chain in the t-case you would know it by the hole in the side of it. There isn't much room for it to ball up in there.

I say pull it apart first before you decide what to do with it. If it were the chain that broke i'm pretty sure it wouldn't work in 4wd and only in 2wd with some noise. It may be a simple fix like the linkage lossened up and what you think is 2wd may actually be in neutral. (had that happen with a tj 231). The 241 is pretty strong, but if something broke, you would hear it snap.

doesn't the chain drive the fronts only? I don't know, just thought it was that way. You might have a problem with the rear axle. If you jack it up in the rear, does anything turn? IE: driveshaft tires

never had a T case apart, sorry
bump

Pull the front shaft and see if the truck then moves in 4wd. If it doesn't then it is definately something wrong with the rear diff.

Hey ya i dont know what got me to think it was the t-case but it wasnt. I exploded the 2 smaller spider gears so no big deal or problem!! now go find to used ones and get that rearend welded up!! Thanks
