My tcase in my '90 K5 has a leak. It appears to be coming from the seal at the case halves. I've never delved into a tcase before, and have always left them attached to the transmission. Recommendations for a replacement seal? Advice on removal/installation?

Am I correct to believe that the tcase and transmission don't swap fluids?

I just reseal ed mine. I'd never opened one up before either. It wasn't complicated but you'll need some good snap ring pliers.
when I got mine open it was just sealed with rtv so I reseal ed it with the same. So far it's holding up fine.

fluid does not move between the case and tranny.

I need snap ring pliers just to open the case?

you MIGHT be able to get it open enough to reseal it without them, but in order to actually separate the 2 halves you'll need them. The tail housing can't be removed without removing snap rings off of the output shaft.

Cool. I've got a crappy set of snap ring pliers.time to step it up, I guess.

You are going to need the slip yoke eliminator kit to get this job completed properly. I mean you'll already have it mostly apart... lol

I know! I've definitely thought about it. Unfortunately, the finances just aren't there for that at this time.
