I have a 87 k5 and would like to swap in a np241 with a sye. I was wondering if I could get a driveline out of a blazer that came with a 205, or do I need a custom driveline? My blazer is stock heigth.

I'm almost thinking that the K5 that came with a 205 would have had a 12-bolt rear and 1310-series U-joints. So if this did work, you might need an adapter U-joint. There is a decent chance that the yoke from the back of the 205 would fit on the 241 with SYE.

If you search around here, you should be able to find the length of various transmission and transfer case combinations, to tell you the difference between the driveshaft lengths. I don't see JB conversions listing a length (http://www.jbconversions.com/pages/products/np241/np241c_std_sye.html), but for reference, when I did a SYE on a 208 it bought me 6 inches.

I don't know what the odds are of identifying the perfect application for a swap, but your odds of finding it without needing a rebuild make your chances even worse. You might just try looking for shafts in junkyard. Sometimes they are piled up like cord-wood and even the guys who work there don't know what they came out of. All you need is the right yokes and good slip joint. Getting it tubed to the right length is not terribly expensive.

Hey, what is the length of your current driveshaft? I might have something laying around that could work - PM if interested.
