Howdy,

I recently pulled the t-case on my 89 blazer to replace the input and output seals, and found that the vent tube was gone, and dirt had plugged it well enough to seal it. After i cleaned it out and reinstalled the case, i tried RTV'ing a tubing adapter in the hole and running a vent hose to the firewall. This did not work for long, and now its leaking out of the vent hole again.

Is there any way to remedy this, short of welding something or replacing the front half of the case?

Thanks

Thread it with a tap and put a small hose nipple in it. I did this to mine about 8 years ago and haven't had a problem.

You know how sometimes you have to have someone tell you something that's fairly obvious before you think of it?

That makes perfect sense.

Thanks!

Sorry for the hijack!! Kinda off topic but when you replaced the input seal did you have to remove the input bearing retainer? If removal of the retainer was needed to replace the input seal was there a gasket that seals the retainer to the case or just silicone?

Reason I ask is the sons DD is overfilling the t-case due to a bad input seal. I have the seal in hand but have found no info as to whether I have to remove the brg housing to remove the seal. I hate to tear it down without all the needed parts on hand. The son doesnt take driving the Wifeys burb to school very well. :haha:

Thanks for any info!!!

When I did my 241 I believe I had to pull the 4 bolts and I think there was a clip to pull also but that may have just been to replace input shaft anyway its not hard and I just used rtv to seal it back

At the risk of pointing out the obvious:
When you tap the case for the hose fitting MAKE SURE you don't let any mettal shavings fall into the case. Put a lot of goopy grease on your tap to hold the shavings while you tap it.
