Recently i have noticed a rather noticeable loud howling sound from some part of the trans system. Th TF case has had a rear output seal leak for some time which cause(D) the tf to run critically low on fluid. I have to keep up on the it to be sure it is not low. That said, today I went to fill it, and it gushed fluid when i removed the fill plug! I checked the trans fluid and it is fine! so I can only assume that the Fluid from the trans is running in to the TF case, over filling it.
Doing my own research, I have found similar issues with the noise, the noise sounds like pebbles grinding when at idle or after acceleration along with best i can describe a howling sound like when a car is in reverse that "whaaaaa" sound older cars made when put in reverse (if that makes any sense at all) truck shifts fine! (sound seems to come from the trans rather than the TF case.Have not had trouble with it in a while, the TF case would put the truck in limp mode when the fluid in it was critical.
Does any of this sound familiar? any ideas what i am dealing with here? Should i keep driving it? Ugh! just got the thing back running, smoged and registered I would hate for it to be down again..... I appreciate the help in advance!
