Just swapped an LQ9, 4l65e, 241c into my 87 K5 and can't for the life of me get the linkage to line up for the TC.

The adapter between the trans and 241 is different size than the old set up so the linkage needed to be adjusted. When in 2wd the linkage arm would hit the body of the TC and not engage so I had to cut it down and reweld it. Now I can get 2wd and 4hi but the throw on the linkage arm (which is shorter) won't go into 4lo.

Think of it as 10:00 is 2wd, 12:00 is 4hi, 14:00 is 4lo. What have people done here in the past?

just to clarify, if I have the linkage arm long enough to got through the full range of motion, 10-2, it will hit on the tc body when it is in the 10 position. As I shortened it to get it to fit the 10 position, it runs out of throw around 1 and won't go into 4lo

this is the arm I am referring to.

black arm not the linkage rod.

Why don't you just buy a cable shifter and mount it on the floor where the factory one goes?

ha, trying to avoid spending more money, but... that does look like the easiest solution

Any chance the flat arm is on backwards? In other words, take the round arm out, turn the flat one over and put the round one in from the other side.

Since the slot is not aligned with the axis of the arm, that will change the angles and not be obvious.

No, I have taken it off and cut it up to reduce interference. Tried several configurations too
