Hi I have a question about the 241c transfer case that went into the 88-91 burbs and blazers. I have a 90 v1500 that has a 700r4. While driving down the freeway the tràns and the tcase both cracked in half a month or 2 ago and have been struggling to find a transfer case for it since then. I found and pulled one today. While pulling it I noticed that it has a cable speed sensor as apposed to the electronic one that is currently on my truck but just figured I could maybe find some help online to converting it, but to no avail. It seems that most want to go from the electronic to mechanical not the other way around. Am I out of luck for converting it. Would it be as simple as finding someone who is selling just the tail housing from a electronic tcase or will I need to be finding a different case. Could i put a metal/plastic cap in it then run it since to my knowledge it is the vehicle speed sensor? Then just run a GPS speedo while inside the cab till I could get a ls swap going. There is a second burb at that junk yard that has has the set up I need in the 91 so I might be able to go back and pull that one but if I could avoid it I would like to since it's on the more expensive side for a junk yard tcase and it's about a 2 hour drive from me. Thanks.

1990-91 are the only two years for the NP241 with electric speedo and passenger drop. Additionally, 700R4 will be 27 spline and TH400 will be 32 spline.

In those years, the K5, Suburban, and cab chassis trucks are the ones to check for what you need.

There is an aftermarket kit that will convert it, guy is on Instagram but I cannot remember his name.
Maybe @ZooMad75 has his contact info.
Walters Engineering and Performance

He makes a kit to convert a cable speedo 241 OR 208 to electronic speedo using a stock gm vss sensor. Pretty simple kit. Just need to pull the speedo housing off to replace the speedo gear with a tone ring and use his part to mount the vss in the hole where the cable drive went.

His stuff is top notch.

Yep, I did this and it works great. Really nice guy to deal with too.

Why not just pull the housing and VSS tone ring off of the cracked T case? If you have actual NP241, the housings will swap.
I sold a mechanical speedometer NP241 rear housing on fleabay for $150 several years ago. And the rest of your 241 is probably worth money to those who can repair it.

The rear bearing housing is what cracked the 2 part case is all intact

I'll just buy that walter engineering plug and just use the tone ring off that other tcase till I can rebukd it

Ahh. Ok. I know that it doesn't take much for a good welder to fix those, but it may not be easy or financially smart to hire someone where you are.
Not everyone has someone who will fix things like that for a reasonable price.

I didn't even think to do that. It's cracked in 7 spots so they might charge an arm and a leg for it.
