Ok I did somehting stupid. I lost the nut that holds my steering wheel on :doah:

What size is the nut? I tried buying some at the parts store but am unable to locate the proper one. This is for an 86 k5 by the way.

Anyways here is a picture of the nut im talking about:

weird thread--metric??

I 'd go to to a junkyard--its the quickest place to get the RIGHT nut for it!--I think its a weird thread ,and the nut is skinnier than a regular hardware store hex nut is..most all GM's use the same one, even cars..

Well i found a nut for it!

I dug around in my tool box and found a castle nut. It looked close so I tried it. Sure enough that was the one!

Oh and it turns out I lost the spring that goes into the horn but a spring from a ballpoint pen works mighty good!

So my steering wheel aint gonna come off and the horn works. Its been a successful evening. I think I'm gonna go sit by the river and have a cold one
