How big was the hole in the block? :eek1:

Let me know when your bringing it back and plan on being hungry as you have steak dinners waiting. Now if your vegan it is just a burnt piece of toast and a rotten egg! :haha:

I already have my work list made out.

If you are still looking for parts here is a tire carrier. There was another guy that always posted a pair of the same style carriers on the Denver CL but he had them as fuel can carriers. I don't know if he ever sold them though but his ad seemed to pop up every few months.

As for your snorkel, maybe look at this guys snorkel. I still have the one I bought from Rexypow and I'm pretty sure the Monty snorkel would have fit the K5 when I placed it on there. I can snap some pics of it and the mounting template on my Blazer to see if it would look right if you want. It is made out of fiberglass but wasn't flimsy or anything.

Just got done giving the burb a nice steam bath here at my Work places shop, heading to ORD now to perform a little heart surgery.

Want to be driving it this time tomorrow.

Way to cool of you.

I will keep my eye open on parts in AZ. :thumb:

OK I have the rack just need to get it from Idaho to Colorado. A member has a vic hickey rack in California that will sell it to me for $100. The main item is a WARN Trans4mer. The Snorkel I found on ebay check the build thread in the top post area.

So that leaves the lights and a CARR light bar.

Just about ready for engine removal. Had some friends come into town unexpected and I hung with them. Should still have it running later today.

I have done some more research on EMP and hope to have a cage made up this summer to keep spare computer and parts in. A local here is in same thought pattern. I can't go in to any details for OPSEC.

Yea I saw that brand but think the FJ80 is closer.CWN I do appreciate your help and taking the time to post.

Got your message tried to call you back. That will be fine just bag and tag it so oils don't get all over the back area. How big was the holes in the block?????? Was it both side or just the rh bank??

Got it all done and driving, need it registered and insured to be able to road test it.

Thanks to ORD for the shop space, James at ORD for having a serious stash of misc. odd ball chevy gaskets and parts, and Stephen and James for putting some time in with me to get it done.

I really want to put a few miles on it to make sure that everything is seating in correctly etc, but it fired up first time and everything sounds and seemed pretty normal for an 88'.

Wowzers! :eek1:

Ok I will see about a temp tag Tuesday. I will also see about getting a person to bring me up there when your done. I pm'd you.

Are you not planning on driving this on the street???

Martin

He is but Colorado allows for a temp tag/ you almost always end up with a temp until all of the paper work has cleared the DMV.

They issue temps on the spot and in some cases you get tags and in some you have to wait.

I really want to know what they did to blow a hole in the block, two in the left side of the pan and one in the right. I don't know how you blow up a TBI 350 like that since they really aren't built to be able to rev much past 4500 RPM.

It's kind of funny that ten years ago I pulled the current motor out of a manual transmission suburban that had "always been a good runner". Cleaned it up painted it tan and installed it in my buggy. It has been on just about every trail in Moab, all the hardcore stuff in Colorado, Run King of the hammers once and Vegas to Reno the long way as well. Now it's back in a Manual transmission suburban:haha:
