Has anyone done this yet? I am looking at a 5.3 and would like to go with a 4500 for a transmission. Flywheel issues seem to the biggest pain or am I wrong?

Should be able to use a flywheel for a 4.8 or 6.0 truck. Ive only found them at oriellys I think the part number is 1050 and it's only 50 bucks and the. Use a pilot bearing from an ls1 and a regular 12 in clutch. I should have prefaced this by saying that's what I'm doing with my 5.3 and sm465 but I believe it would work just fine with the nv4500. Hope this helps.

Interesting, I do also have a SM465, how do you like the 4 speed behind the 5.3?

So far it looks nice in my garage... But I know other people have that setup and seemed to like it. I'm sure it will be a good combo, I liked the sm465 behind my gutless small block, so its all up for me.
