Are their bellhousings interchangable? Can I unbolt the bellhousing off my NV3500 that's in my truck now, and bolt on the NV4500 gear box to bellhousing?? Does anyone know off the top of their heads? I'd rather not dismantle the truck just to see if everything matches up.

NV3500 bellhousing is not removable. It is part of the transmission casting.

Ummm.... From my education, NV3500's from GM's and Dodges have seperate bellhousings. The same gear box used in Jeeps, the NV3550, have one-piece castings.

Now, I am positive that I have an NV3500 with a seperate bellhousing, and I have an NV4500 that needs a bellhousing.... So....

So, same question, TTT.

:D

I have seen several GM NV3500's (S-10 & fullsize), and none had a removable bellhousing

Always been the quick identifying factor I've been told/heard to look for.

Didn't realize New Venture had been absorbed by "Magna" to (re?) form New Process?? In any case, the New Venture site is essentially dead, with none of the old info (that I could find) like transmission and transfer case specs. :(

I have never seen a seperated bell on a 3500 either - can you post up some pics of yours ?
