Looking at picking up a blown up 2000 GMT400 2500 4wd 6.5 diesel with an nv4500. Motor is blown on it. Couple questions. Guy says it makes some noise going into 3rd. I will just assume the synchros need replaced.

This transmission would be going behind a 5.3 LM7 in my 86 blazer project. Does the transmission matter or have any differences coming from the diesel platform?

Also. What’s good price for a complete nv4500 4wd these days. I really don’t want the whole truck to deal with but it would cost me $2500. Plus a 3 hour ride 1 way.

Thoughts? Worth the price of admission ?

The last transmission I got was from a diesel.
It was a recently rebuilt unit and the truck had a good running turbo diesel with a new injection pump.
I paid $2000 for the truck and sold the engine with some A/C parts for $1800.
Kept the transmission for a project I am working on and made the flatbed into a trailer.
Sometimes it's worth it to buy the whole truck if you have a use for the rest of the parts.
A used transmission these days is $1500 or more.
A rebuilt is $2500 and up.
Weigh your options accordingly

The core price is 1000-1200 by itself.
They are not cheap to rebuild if you try and stay away from the cheap parts. The 2000 year trans is great because of the more streetable ratios and internal slave.
