nv4500 cooler

Dunno what you are talking about, no cooler, and no provisions ot be able to hook a cooler up. (splash lubricated, no pump.)

doesn't mean it couldn't be done. I've read towing in overdrive isn't very advised cause of the excessive heat it causes /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Are you sure its heat realted? Towing in OD is bad because 5th gear is weak.

take off the tail housing and change the nut. if its loose already gotta change the gear as well. the nut has an allen head in the side and locktite for it. iirc $45 from the dealer . quick fix

There is also an improved mainshaft available with a wider splined section under the 5th gear to support it better. Spendy though ~300.

4500 is a standard trans. It has no cooler.

Plenty of standard trannys have internal pumps and provisions for coolers. Just not anything you'd use in a light truck...
But the root of your statement is correct; the NV4500 has no fittings for a cooler.
