Nv4500 fluid fill question

Sorry if i have already asked this and forgotten. Should i fill the nv4500 using the factory fill and drain holes. Or should i fill it from the top through the shifter hole? If filling it through the shifter hole how much should i use? till it comes out the normal fill hole or more. Thanks mike

4qrt if i recall . Lots of guys say 1/2qrt over filled threw top to help lube input bearing .

Make sure to use SPECIFIC fluid NOT gear oil .

Honestly I prefer to fill from the shifter because of side access is generally a pain.
No one way is better than the other but higher here since you want 1 quart more than oem spec.

Red Line MT85 GL4. Cheaper than GM fluid around $16/quart.

I installed a street el in my fill plug hole pointed up and filled to that level. About 5 quarts.
