Going to order my nv4500 trans in the next week here and the place im buying from offers cryotreatment of all internal parts for another $500. not a cheap option. My first reaction is to pass and just order the trans normal but i wanted to ask the experts here for opinions first. Its a good chunk of money more and im not afraid to spend more if its really worth it but if its not id rather use the money on other upgrades. I appreciate any opinions thanks mike

The little talk i have read over the years its more for BIG POWER use jobs .

Biggest 2 killers on nv4500 i have seen are wrong oil . And 5th gear nut back off .

And lots of guys find 1/2 qrt over full helps tge front input bearing lube and live much longer .

No big power here im running the stock 350tbi now and might do a 383 some day but nothing crazy. My rig is heavy though probably near 8k loaded for long trips

These 4500s get run behind some high powered diesels, generally without issue aside from abuse

Thats what im thinking also. Kind of thinking i should skip the cryo but wanted to ask before i order.

If 1500ftlbs of 3rd gear 4wd 20psi boosted launches in a 7000lb truck won't break a regular nv4500, then there's nothing you could do to your blazer to break one. Skip it and move on. I would ask them to fix the 5th gear nut on it though as those do back off. Most folks just tack weld it but they make other options.

and they got installed in 3500HD trucks from the 93-2002 body style gmt400 series and there rated at 15k gvw .

i would skip it and spend the cash on another more useful upgrade .
