Looks like I may have a lead on a 4500 with 32 spline out 8 bolt pattern. What years or model truck am I looking for, to get a 205? Is that the 71-79 1-ton models? Sounds like it will be hard to find!!!??? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Why don't you just bolt up that 241 and call it a day? IIRC you already have one and it's already SYE...in fact I know you have a 32 spline input for it sitting somewhere near you.

I can't think of a single reason not to go with the 241 unless you plan on 44's and a 632" BBC.

I thought about that too. But mine is the 6 bolt pattern and if I remember what I read ...this adapter that comes with the 4500 for sale, it has an 8 bolt pattern. But this is all new and foriegn to me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There are two sides to that adaptor. It ataches to the NV4500 with 8 bolts...and the other end is the generic 6 bolt round patern that your 241 has.

The 241 was what the NV4500 was originally mated to.

Sounds funny to me.... Any NV4500 (4wd version) I've come across has a 6-bolt pattern - and they don't use any adapter at all. Its part of the rear extension housing that contains the overdrive.

I think what somebody may be trying to sell is a Getrag 5-spd from a Dodge with the NP205 adapter still on the back. This would make it 29-spline instead.

Or (very unlikely) somebody has bolted the Getrag/NP205 adapter onto the back of a NV4500 /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The extention housing has 8 bolts on the one side and 6 on the other. I know who brandon is thinking of buying this tranny from...so i know for a fact it's a 4500 and not the Getrag.

Could you mount this to a GM NV4500?
Dodge 205

Would it work?
Why can't you just mount a 32 spline GM205 to the back of any nv4500?
I thought the bolt pattern was the same?

the dodge 205 in that picture is exactly the same as a chev figure 8(most common) 205 other then input gear and perhaps the 1410 rear yoke IIRC
so the adapter is the only really unique part

on this stuff I would defer to u2slow's opinions
