I picked up a NV4500 over the weekend. It's out of an early 90s GM 2wd truck. Did some checking, and I think I can swap the output and tailhousing to convert it to a 4wd unit. Anybody know for sure if this correct? According to the PO, make some noise, so will need a rebuild anyways. Also, where can I get the shaft/housing, searching provided some links, but looking for more options and prices.

no this will not work, sorry it happened, your better off getting rid of it, tell you what I since I am so nice will let you give it to me

Check out this site, appears almost everything you need is listed.
At the bottom it says for parts not listed, print and circle the diagram and fax it them. (ie 4x4 tailshaft housing)

Honestly, I would watch ebay for the shaft and housing. I bought one from there last year.

I was looking at those sites, good stuff on both. I called the Quad4x4 one, it can be converted with a output shaft, housing, nut kit and spacer. Think he said they have it all but the housing, but I just bid on one on Evilbay. Need a shifter, bellhousing, and sure there are some misc. crap that I forgot and don't know aboot.....
You'll be replacing the entire mainshaft...there is no separate output shaft.
Other than that it's quite doable once you have the parts.

Im not used to manual tranny's, its all new to me!!! I *might* have the tail housing, it's up to $12 right now and he has no reserve. Sent him a message and said it will sell for whatever.....Think shipping is gonna be more than the friggin part.....
