nylon strap

I think the metal hook ones would be fine if you just had to tow/pull a vehicle. Wouldnt use it to try to recover someone stuck. Ive used 2" x 30' straps and havent had major problems yet. But you also have to look at what your hook or where you attach your strap to are rated. My cousin had a tow hook rip off the vehicle he was hooked up to and it went through his windshield and pushed in the bench seat. If he had a passenger they would have got nailed in the head and most likely be dead. :eek1:

I think 4wheel parts had a good price on straps if you want to deal with that hassle. Summit has a good price too.

The only strap I have ever seen break had hooks on it (and the hooks are what broke, of course).
I also saw the same thing!!! :doah: and thats why i dont like hooks.

when i was 16 i had a metal hook tow strap break and go through both layers of the barn door on my parents suburban :doah: :doah: trying to pull out a stuck buddy. try explaining that one when you get home

no im not talking about the ones wiht hooks, i like the heavy duty ones with just sewn in loops.

but yeah i could see how the flying hook could do some serious damage.

those loop ones are fine. Since you would be pulling away from each other I would go with the biggest/strongest.
