Hey Guys. You here has painted your blazer OD Green or any dark flat color? I have rattle canned mine before, but the paint always seems to sun fade within a month. What are you guys using and how is it holding up? What method of painting? HVLP or rattle can or what? Thanks for the help.

do a search it is your friend. Several members have military paint styles here. Also this was addressed a while ago where I even found the color numbers and military NSN for the green.

Not busting your hump but not awake just taking pills for pain now. Go search my name or OD green.

rapcoparts.com has good paint made by Gillespie Industrial coatings. Stuff is tough, and I haven't noticed any fading on mine.

Thanks for the link. That helps alot. When I do a search, it brings me ten million things with the word "paint" in any post. Am I searching wrong? Not very computer savy...throw me a friggin bone.

The CARC substitute paint RAPCO sells is a pretty good match to genuine CARC paint. I just used their green CARC substitute spray paint to touch up some spots on Big Ugly and it matches the real stuff very well.

im not sure how these paints do for rust protection...being a body man and the need for a sealent. so in that opinion do od paint with flat clear if you want an automotive finish with out the glare

Real CARC paint is an excellent sealant. It's actually designed for chemical warfare and meant to allow the chemicals to be washed off of the paint instead of "soaking in".

Now how the CARC substitute spray paint would compare I'm not sure. It's really meant for touch ups to genuine CARC paint jobs like mine.

Speaking of flat paints and such the last issue of Hot Rod Deluxe that was recently taken from the shelves has a very informative article about suede, flat, and other "retro" paint schemes. Obviously aimed at rat rods, hot rods, and Kustoms in the article but would apply to our love of flat colors also.

I live in Colorado, so it's pretty rust free. Unless you drive on the road in winter and don't wash that crap off right away. Not to worried about sealing and all, and I was in the Marines for almost 9 years, so I don't really care if it's that authentic. Just sick of flat black.... Think I'm gonna order the spray paint from Rapco and give it a shot. Maybe even do desert tan cause I don't bet that will show fade as bad as the green.

i did a rattlecan job, doin jus phine:waytogo:

I used krylon satin italian olive green, its on for over a year and has held up real good. Although the green isnt as deep of a green as olive drab. Its just about lost the satin and is almost flat.

Real bad pic.....sorry
