This is the pic from the CHROMED K5 on Ebay..I noticed that the hose was secured with a clamp, just wondering about it. Ive got an 84 and I dont have one and not sure if there is provision to put one..just curious.

My cucv has that bracket. He may have gotten the shroud from a diesel. Never seen a non-diesel with that bracket, but dont know for certain if they were on all diesels.

hold the rad hose to the shround.

it is a self threadding screw.

the bracket slides 1 tab in the slot in the shroud and then the other tab is on top. install bolt threw top tab / shroud / lower tab and tighten.

its a comon over looked on reinstall item.

But is it on all shrouds? My 350 shroud and my big block shroud didnt have the slot or threaded tab area like the diesel shroud does....

Both of my late 80's Suburbans with 5.7 gasoline engines had that clamp on the shroud.

My 86, originally a 305 stick shift has it, and my 85 originally 350 auto had one as well. IIRC my 83 that was a 305 auto truck originally had one too.

I went outside to look in 20 degree weather, and realized once I popped the hood I removed the factory shroud and fabricated my own. Yes the one I made has one, and the factory shroud (in the junk pile) also has it as well.:waytogo:

just fab one up, get a piece of 2'' diameter or 2.25 pipe and get a piece of flat stock like whatever thicknness you like get it hot and bend it around the pipe and leave alitle overhang for a place to put a screw, bam you just got a brandnew part

Damn I reckon I got the shaft. I went and looked at some old pics of the truck when I first bought it, sure enough, no place on the shroud for it and it wasnt installed, and then went out in the snow, popped the hood, no place on the big block shroud.....(least I know I wasnt smoking crack).......

I left it off when i changed out the hose. Mine was mounted up alittle higher on the shroud though.

Or buy a "p clamp" at your local hardware or plumbing supply store.
