Odd noise...

1986 K20, 350/700R4/NP208

I get HELLACIOUS grinding/rattling noise under part throttle right around the 1-2 shift. Light throttle it's bad, medium throttle it's still there, hard throttle it it's bad with a noticeable vibration and some additional clunking noises. Sounds like it's coming from the transfer case. Does it in 2wd, 4-HI but DOES NOT do it in 4-LO.


Time for a rebuild of the t-case?

Next dumb question: will a TH400 out of a 6.2 truck mate up to my small block?

Yes, but get a gas engine torque convertor

Check your U-joints.

Hubs are free, it makes the same noise locked, and unlocked. And the u-joints are good.

Yes, but get a gas engine torque convertor

Any further input? I was told alls that needs to be done is the governor needs to be swapped out for one from a gasser.
