So on my burb it looked like someone tried to polish the side view mirror. Well they failed.

I have bought aftermarket mirrors before they suck. So I bought new glass for them.

My question is this, can I pull the old glass out with a heat gun?

I have no clue how they are attached.

I wanna break em just to avoid a mess

Had my passenger side fall off last year. Looked to be just glued on with silicone type adhesive. I bought a replacement from autozone, cost like 25 bucks if I remember. Just glued it back on. Been holding good for the past year in the Florida heat.

when i had new glass put in mine the guy broke the old ones and scraped off the glue he said thats the easy way

You need to use adhesive made for mirrors. If you use something like silicone it'll bleed through and you'll see exactly where the glue was placed.

I "grouted" my mirror glass in,after I busted a few plowing (dam tree branches sagging from ice whacked them hard enough to crack the glass)...
I used clear silicone around the edge of the glass, plus a few blobs on the back where it sits against--used stuff in a caulking tube ,GE 100% silicone..I got the idea after seeing one mirror on my van had the glass glued in that way when I bought it in 1990,and it is still holding strong ,looks like it was done recently..

Technically the replacement glass doesn't have to go all the way to the mirror. You can put it on top of the old glass of it's only got minor cracking. But if it's all busted and falling off then yeah you gotta clean it off.
