On my car (nice 45 minute oil change ) the plastic engine pan was held on by three different fasteners. Two different headed screws, and two of those plastic rivnuts or whatever they are. Like nine total fasteners just to get the pan off to change the oil.
Anyways, only two of the fasteners were of the style shown above, and by the third oil change, were ruined. As those positions were plastic to plastic, I got serrated flanged head bolts, and two serrated flanged nuts per. With the pan off, installed the bolt against the plastic inner fender, then tightened a nut up against it. Now both positions serve as studs, making alignment of this massive engine pan much easier. Get pan over exposed threads, run nut up by finger, now let go and pan stays in place to line up all the other screws. I just undo a washer and the "studs" stay in place to drop it.
Those things are clever, but they are just too easy to destroy with repeated use.
