Which valve cover goes in what direction and do the wire loom brackets go top or bottom?

wire loom brackets up top, closer to the intake. Oil fill on pass side.

I think those tinfoil valve covers will only go on one way.

I know youre going for stock, but I would look for something that will hold a gasket better.

I got a set of the expensive Fel Pro gaskets...I think they will seal pretty good...everything besides oem is just a little too much bling for me..

I too fear the bling; I avoid chrome or even shiny like the plague. But you can get aftermarket that isn't insanely blingy -- I think I have a set of these on my smallblock:

"These Proform stamped steel valve covers are made of heavy-gauge steel that is 20 percent thicker than typical aftermarket valve covers. This greatly reduces the likelihood of leakage around the valve cover flange area, caused by fasteners being overtorqued."
