Off-Highway vehicle registration

OK, since I know I'm gonna have problems with CA emissions, what about registering my rig as an Off-Highway vehicle? Can I do it in the state of California? Anybody?

Probly, but you would have to tow your rig to the trails,because you couldnt get plates for it, I know in Co. all it is, is a little sticker.

No smog equipment! None! Nothing! Nada! Zero! I guess the only thing I can hope for right now is that the CHP or other government entity checks only road worthiness and the overall safety of the truck! I hope they don't check for smog equipment. hopefully only the smog inspection station does that!

Hmmm, Im not sure what is required in Ca. as far as emmisions for an 81, but i think it's just a charcoal canister and cats, just a suggestion but can you "fake it"?

I got a air pump, valves, most of the hoses and manifolds you would need for a 350 that I'm tired of tripping over. You would need to find the right crank pully and bracket if your missing the air pump pully. $20 and shipping and their yours but shipping UPS ground is going to be like $60 from 30066 to Cali. It's going to be about 65lb and will have to be in 2 boxes to get under the 50lb per box limit.
Other stuff they will look for is EGR and EVAP can.
