madison me.
OK. What I am looking to do is use some old off road light house I Have. What I have are the old dick cepek C-1000 lights. I have 4 of them. but the bulbs burt out I took them off and replace with the round 6" kcs. But now would like to use them again. the last place I found to buy replacement bulbs want $ 40.00 a bulb. they were the 210 watt h-4. but I got mad they burt out within few miles down the road. so I am wording what some other poeple would do to use them again. I have been searching and looking into HID. I have had a hard time finding the brightess and best price. with out spending $ 4-500.00. Just wording who has had good luck with the hid convertion kits.

Get 4500k h4 hids with the slim ballasts. Just know the beam pattern isn't ideal in those housing's. You can get hids for around 35 a pair

yes! replace the halogen bulbs with some EBay HIDs. Try it, it's cheap enough to throw them out if you don't like em.

As you go higher in power, the halogens go up in price and down in life. If you get 100W H4's, say, they'll last several times longer than the 150W and cost less.

Or you can mess with conversions ... but you might just get medium-power bulbs, which cost less and live much longer. Do clean the glass & make the sure any rear reflector is polished, etc, to get the most brightness out of them.

off road lights

well I have done alot of reseach found some h4 bulbs that are high power but low draw. they are exoin 195 low and 150 high beams. a few of the web sites I have found they had high and low beam off roadd lights. I dont know what if any that would be. I just want bright and distance with lights. I have a ste of HID 6000 in my regular head light they are the exion h4 low and high they are great but the low and high are great but I am a little disappointed with the distance down the road. I guess I thought they would be this great distance down the road. I travle a lot at night and alot of back roads not alot of traffic. so light is a great thing to have the more the easyer it is to drive and more fun to drive at night.

The 55w hids are way brighter. I'm assuming you have The 35w. Also your stock headlight reflectors are not spot beams , so cannot expect too much distance out of them.

I run CSI 7" HIDs, they are $100 each. Exactly the same as WARN HIDs, just in a different box.

lights

For what it is worth and I dont know. when I was talking to HID. nation they were telling me that there is no differance with the 55 watt or 35 watt HIDs. I have nothing to compare with. like I said I dont know that is what HID said when asked them about higher watts. they said just a marking sceme. would love to know better first hand though for some one that has had both to compare. because I did see a web.site that had 70-100 watt HIDs for about the some amout of $$$. SO were did you find them CSI's lights for about 100 each I would just put a pair of them on the front and move on forget about the others.

My opinion.

If they are an aux light I would put 55w in them. I have had 35w on my old car an my buddy had 55w in his an his ware WAY brighter (we had the temp to 5000k). Look up DDM Tuning. They have cheap prices but NOT cheap lights. I had there 35w slim ballast an it's plug an play. I really like the HID color over halogen but that could because I'm just young. Ha Never had a problem with them.

You need to stick with lights in the 5,000K range. That is near natural sunlight so it helps your eyes out.

I would call these guys and talk with them, Baja Designs. Then I would buy their Stealth 10" LED light bar. Let them know what you want and they will set you up with spot lenses and flood lenses appropriately.

I dont see a link or aname to call the poaple you are refering to mini wally but I am allways looking for a new place to buy lights and a light bar would be cool to get if resenable priced but you get what you pay for

Baja Designs

I will say they are not the Cheapest, I also don't think they are the most expensive but they have a nice product.

The stealth light bar is cool, hast bright and dim, and is a quality product.
I would have one on my street truck/tow rig if I was making enough to buy one right now.

I have some lights from Rigid Industries. I don't have years of experience with them, but they are made in the USA, have a 2 year warranty, give the specifications for the power consumption and certifications that they meet, light pattern specs, test methods and what I see they cost less than Baja Designs. I have friends that use some Rigid lights on dirt bikes with excellent results. I know ORD doesn't reccomend them and I would like to know why. So far for myself and some others, great product. Baja designs has more dimming apparently and strobe??? I don't need a strobe.

If you look at the website, notice that the lumen output range scale is in meters not feet!!

I wouldn't say that ORD doesn't recommend them as much as I would say it's just not a product they use.

Dating back 15+/- years Stephen purchased some Hella Halogen driving lights. They were good lights, worked well and were quality. Then fast forward to about 5 or 6 years ago I got tired of dealing with tractor lights, and basic driving style lights that I had been using on my buggy. At that time Baja Designs had just started making their Fuego HID lights, I purchased a set from them and fell in love. They are a great light and very tough, small and easy to install, aim and in general deal with.

In 2009 when we/ORD started racing we picked up Light Force as a sponsor and ran their 7" dia HID lights. They were ok but nothing earth shattering. I kept thinking that my little 4" fuegos were a better light beam and provided more usable light. Then in late 2010 our guy at Light Force left them and we found out Light Force was going to be looking harder at other markets and not so much on off road racing. Thus making the need for a look at our lighting needs and who we were going to choose to fulfill those needs. Sponsorship or not.

Rigid was out there, Baja designs and a few others but that was about it. After research and conversations we choose Baja Designs. They are great, ORD has used several different styles of their lights and always had good luck with them. Looking back to those now 15 year old Hellas compared to a set of 8" halogen Baja Designs lights that were bought several years ago for a UA truck the Baja Designs area better light. I feel it's important to clear up that yes Baja Designs sponsors the racing part of ORD, this doesn't mean that they give free lights, it does mean there are benefits to ORD racing some of which is price points for racers. I however bought the very first lights from them at retail just as anyone would, these same lights are on the car and in use today. That purchase was what really kicked off the understanding of what a good light is and how bad a bad light is.

Honestly there are several companies that have some nice offroad lights, support the off road community and Rigid is one of them same as Baja Designs. We just choose Baja Designs for the quality of product they have and we felt they were a better fit for our needs.

One thing to keep in mind with off road lights and they aren't made for the average Joe blow to use on a street type truck, they area competition light meant to have features that make them desirable for that use, The strobe feature on the stealth light bar is a prime example that we use during the day sometimes as a visual reference for other vehicles to see the car better in dust and low visibility conditions. The cool thing is that if the light can make a competitor happy they most likely will make you happy.

Besides both companies have Design in their name, how could it not be meant?:haha:

Stephen may have more to say as I'm not really ORD I just play on their coat tails.:D

Cool, Thank you Brandon for the response, I know that was a lot of typing, but Thanks,
Dave

If you touch the bulb with bare hands when you install them, they will burn out in a very short time. The oil on your skin kills them. Lots of people don't know that.
