Supposed to have it back on Thursday. I got a great quote for the work and saved a bunch by him just tacking it instead of fully welding it together which I'll do. I did that to save a little money and to have a hand in building the cage. I may rethink this for part two (front half) but we'll see.
It wasn't similar - it was me. I kept qualifying times and then checkpoint 3 times on race day. Cant remember, did you guys finish? I have pics of your rigs.
Here's some crappy pictures I took last night. I'm really happy with the work but now I need to take the wheels off to get it in the garage again. I haven't decided fully to pull the existing supports off the roll bar.
I think it looks nice. I also think it would look better if that old brace was removed, but it's providing a decent amount of structure. You could instead run a straight piece of tube from that upper corner down to where the new tubes contact the floor at the back to make a nice big sturdy triangle.
Thanks people. I'm modifying a few things now and if anyone is in town for street vibrations, stop by for beer. I'm really happy with it, and think the stock supports are gonna get dx'd. Welding away. Happy Friday.
We didn't finish, rolled late in the race by the last rock section before the finish line. What a race though. Looks like we will be at the LCQ with fingers crossed.
I meant to take some photo's this morning but was running late. Hopefully I will get them tonight. I removed the factory supports and am so glad I did, at least until I roll. It looks much better.
Second part coming up - around the 15th will be front half and a canvas cover to keep the sun and snow off.
Irok - God speed on the LCQ! When is that and where? I know 4Whell parts is putting it on but that's all I know.
So I finally got around to taking some pictures, weather is nicer and my K5 was feeling photogenic so here goes...
I especially like the way the Prius owner glared at me when she pulled in while taking the pictures. (B)
Now this is without the kids' seats in and not yet done with the front half, but since I bought a compressor (write up in tools) I needed to wait a while before I contracted for the rest.
