My DD is a 13 4runner. Soulless but I love that I basically welded the hood shut, drove it 100k only buying oil, brakes and tires and do my wrenching on my 73 k5. Hoping that I will do the same for another 100k and then one of my boys will pull another 100k out of it.

I need tires and kinda want to go to 33s. Seems like the easiest way is RC coil spacers. After 3 years tearing almost all of my 73 down and swapping 2 lift kits in and out, I kinda understand leaf springed options but I know jack shit about IFS or even coils. I have looked at toyota forums but am overwhelmed with ads and pirate-style flaming and soapboxing

What are the pros and cons of my 3" lift options? Truck is mostly a pavement queen but looking at the lift and tire change to make it a little more capable for overlanding and hunting. Never gonna wheel the 4runner hard and it needs to remain 100% pavement civilized and reliable.

Are coil spacers smart? Do I need a better lift kit? Better off leaving the DD 100% DD and putting time/$ into the blazer? I live in suburban NorCal so any kind of real adventure starts with 3 hours on the freeway which makes the '73 not the best choice.

Thanks, all.

I am not familiar with the setup on the 4runner but if the spacers change you caster, it will not have good road manners and I don't know what kind of suspension design would not lose caster with the spacer.
So as long as you are not transferring the whole axle down 3" without twisting it you will be affected road manners

What yota forums are you on?

Not familiar with the new setup (my yota is solid axle), but i thought they had some pretty good options for the tacoma’s, but not sure if they use the same setup (historically they were slightly different). Either way, as Iceman mentioned, if factory geometry isnt maintained, ride quality will suffer, and you will eat tires.

Ask this here? Go to a toyota forum. we nuked the gooks and should have finished them.

We don’t support racist comments here, so let’s dial it back and stay on topic

And yes that means we talk about Toyota’s

I would do an Old Man Emu lift. It is your best bang for the buck. You'll spend about 1k on parts, but I would absolutely NOT do a spacer lift. The 5th Gen 4Runner is probably the 3rd most popular vehicle come in the shop behind the Wranglers or Tacomas. If you want specific pricing, PM me and I can quote you on a few different things.
