So I never use the A/c in my truck wanted to get rid of the compressor and all the items that go with the air to clean up under my hood. What is exactly that I need to do? And my truck is an 83 but I have a serpentine set up from a 92 pick-up what lenght belt would I need to run with out the compressor? any advise would be great.

I would keep the compressor and have an onboard air compressor......

I would suggest dumping the compressor he has and switching it to a york with a serpentine pulley. You then have OBA and you keep the same length belt.

The existing compressor would need to have oil drawn into the suction to lube the compressor and then removed before it gets put into the storage tank. The york has its own oil sump for lubrication.

Its illegal to vent the R-12 in the system, its a CFC.

Most shops will remove it for free (or even pay you), manufacture of R-12 has been illegal for many years so its become pretty valuable.

I removed all my HVAC stuff, really nothing to it... just dig in and yank it all out. I cut out some sheet metal to fill stuff up and RTV'd/Screwed it in place.
I have a york that's going in place of my stock AC compressor but other than that all the HVAC is gone...

Just be sure you really want to do it because good luck retrofitting it back in once you tear it all out.

your kinda s.o.l. with your heat situation but i guess you already knew that. and about the venting that crap into the air. there wasnt even anything under pressure in my ac system i have a feeling its like that on alot of these old trucks

I could run a Mojave heater if I wanted to but for now I'm fine. Heck I hardly drive the k10 anymore and if it's even remotely cold I'll be in the k3500 for sure...

My system still had a little pressure and looking back I guess I should have known better than to vent it but oh well, now I know for sure.

Ya mine had a leak and quit working. I did not want to put money into fixing something I hardly used so I gutted mine. It is a federal offense to vent freon in to the atmosphere. If the EPA catches you it is $10,000 per day per offense.

As for heat, we here in SOCAL can get by with wearing a jacket we don't need no stinking heat:D

I'm in the process of removing all my HVAC stuff on my truck right now too. I bought the Summit Mojave heater and planned on installing it this weekend until UPS decided to "mis-route" the box so what was supposed to be here yesterday will now be here on Monday. I am gonna cover the holes like Avery did and mount my CB in the stock controls hole.

PS, anybody need any of my stock components pay for shipping and its yours.

I removed all of my A/C stuff during the recent engine swap, but i just trimmed the enclosure so I could retain the blower for heat. I'm in the process of fabbing up a new box to run from the fan to the hole in the firewall. It drops into the low 20's every once in a while here and i'm not a big fan of cold weather anyways haha.
