Ok, I am installing off-road lighting with a relay and a SPDT (single pole double throw) toggle switch.

Relay attached as follows:
#87 to lighting
#85 to ground
#86 to toggle +
#80 to fused battery connection

Toggle connected as follows:
12v+ to #86 relay
ground to ground
accessory not attached

Obviously this is not working, please help me out on the CORRECT way to install. Thanks for the help.

When you say ground to ground, does that mean you wired the ground on the switch to the ground on the relay?
You should attach those to a grounding poing on the frame or body.
Are the lights grounded?
Do they work if you touch the + wire directly to the battery?

I bolded what is incorrect.

The 12V + must be a positive 12volt source.
The ground is ground (obvious)
The ACC is what goes to the relay terminal 86.

You have to power that terminal on the relay or nothing happens as you found out. You can pull this power from you fusebox under the dash, since it is a small amp draw (.7 amps)

yes, I do know what a ground is and all ground points are to the frame and checked with tester. Thank you for the clarification on the relay-toggle connections...I am going to do that right now.
P.S. - The pic is much help thanx
