I finally broke down and added everything up. I could've done it cheaper but I am anal about stuff like this so I ending up replacing most of the axle parts.

-D60 purchase price- $850 Shipped to my door
-Detroit w/ lifetime warranty- $625
-Diff rebuild kit- $118
-New Spicer 35-spline inner axles- $200
-New Spicer 35-spline outters- $150 shipped
-Warn 35-spline lockouts- $200 shipped
-New SRW hubs- $400 shipped
-New wheels bearings- $80
-New spindle bearing and seal kits- $20
-Crane diff. cover- $215
-Kingpin rebuild kits- $100
-Spicer 5-806X u-joints- $60
-New rotors- $75
-Reman loaded calipers less core- $60
-ORD HD tie rod w/ ends- $175
-Gear install- $110

Total: $3438 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,EVER add up the total cost on anything on your rig unless you are about to sell but then never do that either.

Yeah it's funny, I tell people I have over 3k in my 60 and they think I'm nuts and there is no way it can cost that much... You gotta pay to play /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

yeah I still haven't added up the 454 but I know it is sky-high as well.I usually don't add stuff up but I was just curious. I don't think I will do it agian for I do wish to preserve my sanity into my late twenties.

Chris

When I got rearended I had to dig through all my receipts and add some stuff up for insurance and I made the mistake of adding everything up, still recovering from that one...

[/ QUOTE ] Thats why I'll problry buy one from Boyce. The total cost plus any labor and the one from Boyce looks better and better all the time. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

I was quoted over $4,000 from boyce for a 60 with 5.13's, detroit, 35 spline stubs, warn hubs, and completely rebuilt. Then I would of had to pay shipping...

But that's not what you get from Boyce. His axle is WAY upgraded from what you get from Boyce.

And you guys thought my 14 bolt front was silly and cost a lot of money. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
It cost nothing close to that.

And I seem to recall your 14 bolt front had no gears, no locker, no shafts, no locking hubs??? An empty dana 60 probably compares to your empty 14 bolt /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Like I said, I could have save A LOT of money and reused a lot of parts and not used some that I did. Like the Crane diff. cover is a bit spendy at $215 and I could use the stock on but I am going for a bit beefier setup then a stock D60 with a locker. The 2 things that really hit the wallet harf were the SRW hubs and the Detroit. Those 3 pieces were over 1000 clams. I could've waited to find some SRW hubs USED and spent $100 a piece on those but then I would have to spent a bit of time wire-wheeling them and installing new races.. It's all relative and I am particularly anal about this stuff. Now I haved a D60 that has all new parts except the housing and knuckles and spindles and ring and pinion. And since I put all new innner axles in it too, I have the old stock inners for spares and I have another set of 35-spline outtters on order so I will have an entire axle set I can swap in if need be. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Even though I spent more than what one would cost from boyce, I KNOW exactly what parts I put in there and which ones are new. I would still rather spend some more $$$ and do it the way I did to have the confidence and peace of mind...

Now all I have to do is hunt down some spring plates and spring plate studs and wait till tuesday for the rest of my x-over pieces to get here and the 2wd sector shaft so I can swap it in...

Where did you get the rotors that cheap?

I work at NAPA and get EVERTHING at cost /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

$68.95 for both /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You forgot to add the cost of rims.

Warn shafts and CTM's $960. Complete rebuild of front axle including all new ball joints TRE's $500. $300 for lockRight. Continue to run 35's I already had and I still have more ground clearence then you till your on 39's or bigger. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Well actually, it has gears, and lockouts, Ill probablly run it welded, add shafts and its just a tiny bit over that Dana 60. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hear you on the high cost of a well stocked Dana 60 front axle. With the 5.13s, Detroit, 1350 yoke, $1900 worth of Superior axles and CTM ujoints, ORD tie rod, Xover steering, Redneck Ram...I could have put a nice downpayment on some land.
