I tried to do my 4" lift along with installing my 14B FF with new tires + new ball joints, new drag links, new and a bunch more. I pretty much had to do it in one day but that was thrown out the window.

The ball joints (still original equip) took 1.5 hours just to remove. I ended up having to use a actylene torch to heat it up so it would pop out.

I then experienced the joy of installing new springs (ft and rear). I'll never do that again. What a huge PITA!

Oh yea...my oil pan was leaking, so I also decided to replace the gasket - I have yet to install one that does not leak. I hope this one holds. Since I had the axle dropped, it was much easier.

Now I need to raise the front axle and reconnect it. I also need to slide my 14B under the and hook it up and I also need to torque down the new ball joints.

I hope I can get it all done! Update and pics to follow!!!!

A buddy and I just did my 14b swap a month or so ago...Just for $hits and giggles we timed how long it took us. From when we got the tires off the 12b to when we were ready to bolt the tires on the 14b, it took us 2 hours 15 minutes with air tools. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/cool.gif /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ohhh boy did you underestimate that job! Hope you got air tools.
I hate to break this to you..........If the inner axle seals are the originals......9 out ot 10 chance in the next 6 months they will start leaking. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif They are old and hard and having the shafts dragged over them usualy proves to be the finnal straw.

No air tools? What was the problem? /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

You guys with air tools sure are lucky. I'm just finishing up my body off work/frame swap and I have no air compressor, no power tools, nothing. Just sockets, breaker bars, rachets, and wrenches. I borrowed a sawzall and a grinder.

I have air tools and that did cut off a few hours of muscle sore bolt cranking, but it did not cut down on how sore I am now.....the morning after and I still need to get the front and rear axle connected to the springs!

wish me luck. My deadline is 4pm today!!!!

Chris

Good Luck!

Whenever someone on this list tells me how EASY and FAST something can be done, I just laugh and ignore them. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

My personal experience with every project so far is that they take me forever, and I usually add-in some other "might as well" stuff to the project which makes them take longer.

My K5 isn't my daily driver either, so that takes some of the pressure off....
