Anyone run one on their truck or other vehicle?

My truck sits for very long periods and I'm not real good about periodically driving it, so I'm betting the oil film is pretty negligible by the time it gets started. As such, I'm thinking the ability to pre-oil would be somewhat beneficial to the engine.

I don't know anyone that has or currently uses one, so I have no idea if it would be practical for what I'm thinking...

Nope--I would lose no sleep over so called "dry starts"..

I've had engines sit in my garage for years "empty" and after removing the oil pan,I always saw plenty of oil clinging to everything on the bottom end..including in the rod and main bearings..

You could use some STP or Lucas that clings like crazy to help ease your fears if desired...

I've had engines that had bearing clatter when first started--once oil pressure built up after 5 seconds or so,they went silent again..a few cars I had that way I drove several years and thousands of miles without a engine oiling issue...(though I admit it was un-nerving to hear every morning, especially cold ones)..

They sell things like a 12V engine "pre-luber" that pressurizes the oiling system every time, before you crank it over--I suppose they might help reduce bearing wear on a cold start, but its probably not worth whatever they cost and the effort to install one..

Todays thinner oils pump up fast and get into all the tiny crevices almost instantly compared to the old straight weight or 10W-30 or thicker multi-weight oils,so engine wear at start up is almost non existant in comparison..
