Advantages and disadvantges.

Reason i wanna know my current chrome vavle cover have a spot for 1 breather on one side and that were you put the oil in. now the vavle covers the engine came with have a fill and 1 breather one one side and the other just has one breather.

My 79 has the PVC on one side and the breather vents to the bottom of the air cleaner on the other side.

You have to allow the crankcase to breath , PERIOD . If you didn't the pressure would build up and you would have lots of oil leaks due to failing seals .

In the old days it was just a single raised breather in front of intake , and a breather under the intake out the back of the block where road drafting sucked it out .

The along came the breather on one side for fresh air in , and the PVC valve to suck the crankcase , and send it back into the carb .

Aftermarket valve covers ( and some stockish ones ) , come with extra holes to allow flexibility in designing your own evacuation system ( some do the breathers into the collectors for better suction , which allows lower tension piston rings ) .

Damn Pauly, this bugs me everytime i see it. It's PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation). :deal: :D

PVC is a piece of friggin plastic pipe.

lol

You need a beer Scott. :D

It's an kanuter valve, so you're both wrong.
