I search for the old thread with a bunch of info for it with no luck, so im asking here. Do i need it during spring/summer? or is it just from road salt? I plan on taking the truck on the beach, and i go off roading on dirt, sand and light mud and trust me, it gets dirty, real dirty. How will an oil spray hold up to this? I mean will it wear off real quick, will it make all the dirt cling to it. Or will it make it stay clean? Im just real concerned with salt during winter and salt from beach runs. I wash the truck after every beach run, but how will the oil hold up to washdowns with water? I normally rinse the truck pretty often, but i havnt taken the mud off it in like a week and a half cause i dont have the hose hooked up yet, im looking for a good carwash that does undersides.. Thanks. The underside is spotless and i want it to stay that way

i know that the sand, and dirt will stick to the oil... no way around that...

i've done my truck and a couple other cars i've owned with used motor oil (hey, you can get it DIRT CHEAP!) and because i have plenty of it, i did my truck in the fall, and others then too... on past vehicles, i've washed the best i could and there was stuff still stuck to it, so i think that will just have to be for a while... but yes, the oil was still on...

i haven't played with my truck yet since i oiled it, but it is a little dirty from junk on the road, and i should probably wash it in a little while...

Coat the underside with some paint quick before it starts to rot!

my truck has rustoleum on the bottom... it's actually going to get POR-15 and Lizard Skin this summer... hmmm that reminds me, i should start de-greasing everything under there...

well i know oil is suppose to be the best, i just dont want to waste money when it comes off from the mud and dirt and sand, should i just wait for winter and try to avoid that stuff for the most part? does that crap come off easy with water when its stuck to the oil?

yeah, dirt and stuff sticks to the oil, even after you wash it off... i've had it where i've taken it to the car wash and sprayed the best i could with high pressure and still leave some garbage in the oil... motor oil is alot thinner than conventional 'under body' oil, so i'm not sure if it would be better at letting go of the dirt...

if i were you and paying for it, i'd clean and paint the underside now that it's nice, then have it shot up this fall, before any snow flies, and keep up on it...
