alright i just pulled in the yard and smoke started coming from under the hood...looks like oil is coming from the pass side rear of the exhaust manifold...smoking like hell ....im hoping its not broke rings but anyone else have any ..cheaper ideas to try first? thanks alot

i was thinking intake gasket, broke rings, valve guides,....i havent had it out much lately and its been nice and muddy lately so figured id take her out today and play around ..didnt even get real muddy ..didnt get on it much so i didnt expect any problems till.....:eek1:i thought i was on fire just as i pulled in the driveway...

Valve cover gasket easiest to check and cheapest. Check your oil level too. Check the antifreeze to to see if it is milky. I doubt it is intake gasket. I had a 74 do same thing and it was a gasket dried and split.

ok....got to thinking about it and went out to the shop to fire her back up....started smoking while it was idling, exhaust manifold started smoking...and then....:doah:it stared missing kind of a miss/pop/backfire sound.....

Dunno know about the rough running but our 84 C20 hay wagon smokes like a freigh train at times from a leaky valve cover, specially is ran and then parked on side hill a bit where the oil can run out the edge of the cover. Im just to damn lazy to fix it.
