Has anybody heard of oil coming out of the distributer? I've replaced my intake gasket twice and i've fixed my oil pressure sending unit. I'm still leaking oil and it looks like its coming from the distributer.

Is it coming out at the base where it mounts to the intake? cause theres a gasket there that can fail, or is it actually coming from under the cap ?

I have the same thing! It looks like it's coming from up at the intake but can't tell for sure,it drips off of the starter and the oil filter.I am taking the intake off and replacing the intake gasket, dist. gasket, and pressure sender.Let me know what yours turns out to be.

its coming out of the base. ive replaced the gasket both times i changed intake gaskets.

you need to look at the gear on the distributor and make sure that the gear isnt bottoming out on the cam gear and keeping the distributor from seating properly. If by chance it is then you will have to determine what size shim you need and shim it up.

Check the brass tee that comes off the block next to the distributor for your oil pressure sensor. Mine was leaking and it traveled exactly like you said to the ground.

Hmm, I don't think I have a gasket on my dist. I wonder if that's why it never really tightens down?  :doah:

thats one of the first things i checked. i even bought a new one just in case. it doesnt leak all of the time only when the motor is under a heavy load. would it hurt to put a little silicone on the gasket around the base?

Also check the rear intake manifold gasket. Don't use the rubber end pieces, use RTV or "The Right Stuff."
