Oil filter have 2 orings on it? I have seen it quite a few times when you don't check to be sure it came off with the filter.

Not unless it recently blew out the o ring I am due for an oil change but the leak just started a few days ago

So you removed the sender and replaced it, then oil started to leak? So why aren't you convinced the new unit isn't sealed?

Maybe you loosened or cracked the extension sticking out of the block? You just changed something and now there is a new problem, seemingly coming from the same area you worked on.... If you have some goggles, a creeper and a flashlight you should be able to see that sending unit from below. They can leak like crazy.

After a lot of cleaning a little driving and a lot more wiping it looks like ther rear main seal thats leaking how hard is it to replace or is this something a shop should do?

If the sender is not getting oil, then I would suspect that you cracked the 90 degree brass fitting that it screws into. They are fairly easy to break when changing the sending unit, and can create a very large leak. If your truck has a one peice rear main seal, you need to remove the transmission, or at least slide it back to change it. With a two peice, you can just remove the pan.

that brass fitting is the first thing i checked the new sender was smaller and didnt require it so i ditched it now its getting oil gauge is still pegged out. my truck is a 1980 what years came with what seal. top of the bell housing is still dry

If its a 1980 motor it will have the 2 piece rear main i beleive. There is a thread on here somewhere about changing them i thought.
