Oil filler cap???

I found that my oil filler cap is allowing oil to come out adn leak down on the motor. I looked at the under side of the cap expecting to find a wasted o-ring or something. NADA!
Should it have one or should I just replace the cap? Its one of those that starts clicking after it has been turned so far.

Ok, so somebody with a "newer" model, can you go out and look at the underside of your filler cap and tell me if there is an o-ring on it?
I may just say f-it and go buy a new cap. Maybe a chrome one, so it'll go faster

1987 305 tbi has the fill cap on teh passenger side with a rubber-ish large washer lookin thingy. Mine's shot so it leaks too....

For the $2.95 it would cost for a new cap, you may as well replace it.

I had one of the newer style. They wear out like anything else...ya just gotta replace it.

the chrome caps add about 12 hp, and 32lb ft of torque, go for the new one!

Just got back from Dealer. It cost 4.88
and yep it has an o-ring that mine doesnt have. So we should be good to go.
I asked about the high performance ones and they were all out.
