I only have a few PF35 oil filters that I bought about 10 years ago. What do you recommend.. PF35l, classic, wix?

Personally prefer Napa Gold filters which are made by Wix. Not many places to pick up true Wix filters around here, but the Napa's have performed very well.

Not sure if its still true but mobil1 had one of the best flowing filters with high filtration. it was a test where they cut open like 10 diffrent filters to look at the media inside and flow tested

PF1218 is the replacement for the PF35, that's what I use. The PF454 replaced the PF25. Although they are both a little bit shorter than before.

From what I found on the web these new ac delco filters are not as good as the old ones.

Newer AC delco are made by Champ filters. Go to Wal mart look at a AC delco then check out a Wally world tech 2000. No diference. Save your self some money and buy the WW filter.

Wix filters sold at Napa as Napa Gold.....good stuff.

Don't buy the advertising hype

The other filter that rated high in tests along with the wix filter was the Purolator PureONE line of filters. Excellent filter area. Excelent filtration. Excelent anti-drainback valve (viton, not cardbord). Strong case design. Not much more to say.

I would not hesitate to use either brand filter on any of my vehicle applications.

Cheers,

Rufus

Just got some wix filters. Looks like some good stuff. I still have a stash of PF35 that I bought in 1995 that I want to save for later use.

Here is a comparision of the AC Delco PF35 old stock that I bought in 1995 vs. the Wix I bought today. The Wix is shorter in height yet same diameter. So it holds less fluid. The AC Delco has spot welds on the top and the wix is a solid piece. The ac delco seams to be a more balanced filter in my hand. The wix is top heavy. Maybe because of the solid piece and it being shorter.

hmmm maybe you should cut them apart to measure the filtering media?

I also have some very old Frams from 1991 made by allied signal. Do not if this is before or after Fram went south.

I work in a local buddies garage from time to time, I've sold all different types of filters in the past, I would have to say, Fram sucks. Go with WIX, or Purolater top of the line. I have cut them open in the past and the best I've seen to date is the WIX. Just my silly old .02 though.

There seems to be plenty of talk about pleats and filtration. but i know many engines have been starved to death by crappy fram filters as they wouldent flow well enough and the bypass dident open. Seems to me for the extra 2$ it would be a most wise investment to get a good one like the wix/puroilater/mobil1.
