bought one of those gauges that runs the tube from the engine to the gauge with oil in it. i kinked it when running it thru the fire wall and was wondering where do you get new tubing from and can you just cut the tube at the kink and connect a new tube to the old one? how would you do that?

If it was the nylon, throw it out. Even if it wasn't damaged it'll leak in short order.
If it's the copper, any autoparts store should have replacements. Or you could cheap out and replace the kinked part with a butt connector, that adds two more potential leak points. Bad. But hey, it's your truck. Do what you want.

I hope this helps? I just finished doing the same. There is a couple choices.
You need to chose where you will tap in to the galley. The original steel line below the dist, or above the oil filter there's a oil galley plug I choose
to splice in to the steel line. with a S/W oil gauge. I still have the orig. dash gauge and the new aftermarket. I used copper tubing. The only way to go. My .02

Your best choice would be to use steel braided flex line. You can get them pre terminated for 1/8" NPT on each end and you can get them in several lengths. These are made just for this purpose.
