ok, so i've got a pretty bad leak. i dropped the oil pan and did a new gasket w/ some rtv gasket maker and whatnot. didn't fix it. it's coming from the rear and front of the engine. anyone got any ideas on how to make a good seal? the only thing i can figure is maybe a rear main and perhaps where the crank comes thru the timing cover. anyone have any ideas? it pisses me off b/c i'm running amsoil and it's like pouring liquid gold on the ground.

Rebuilt...it should have a new rear main and front oil seal right? Shouldn't be leaking from those at all. Did you replace the CDR dealie (top passenger side of motor, similar to a PVC for a gas engine.) Thinking you might be getting a bit of pressure in the crankcase forcing the oil out through the seals...

hmmmm. that's a good thought. i should have thought of that when i read that other dude's post in the garage about his turbo'd 6.2. i'll try that too!

Worth a shot, especially if the seals are new...and I'd have to assume you installed new seals.

Are the seals the right size?
Were they a tight fit?
I was rebuilding a SBC350 once and had the wrong size seal and it leaked like a sieve, I replaced it with the right size and it was dry.
Just a thought.
:D

yeah, i'm pretty sure they were the right size - they fit pretty d@mn good.

so i'm having difficulty finding a place which knows/has a CDR - any ideas on where i can get one?
