So does this happen? I have oil around the rim of the round part of the oil pump. it does not apear to be coming from above. I wiped it off at work, then checked it when I got home and there is oil around that ring (see Pic)

the pump is only a year old. I've really only had one go bad on me ever, and that one leaked gas out of the same area. :dunno::dunno::dunno:

Would make sense to me. The pump does get powered by the crank.

We replaced mine a few weeks ago and a bit of oil came out.

Its getting ready to take a $hit on you. Mine did that too a few months ago. Was oil at first then fuel leaking all over the engine. Lucky I didn't have a fire.

It's hard to tell from that pic but that bolt on the front face of the block is it in the upper hole? If so then I would suspect a bad fuel pump if not then the upper hole needs to have a bolt put into it as that hole goes through into the cavity that the fuel pump pushrod travels in and oil will leak out if a short bolt isn't ion that hole.

There is a bolt in that hole. I picked up a new pump the othe night. just weird to me. those pumps are usually super reliable. this one went out in a years time. I don't think replacement parts are what they used to be...

When I bought mine for the 6.2L the universal consensus was the ACDelco part was light years better than any of the parts store parts. Dunno about the gasser parts though.

Just to fallow up, I replaced the pump this morning. There are 2 little weep holes in the front of the pump. When i removed the old pump and tipped it forward, oil came out of those holes. Don't really know why but 20 bucks for a new one is cheap enough to not have to worry about it.

Of course, in keeping with good ol' murphy's law- fix one leak, find another... looks like either the front timing cover or front seal seeps a bit of oil too :angry1: yep, its a chevy

Are you sure you're not talking about my rig? I have the same thing going on.

Have you checked the oil for fuel or fuel smell? The pump works off of a diaphram that can rupture causing the fluids to mix - bad juju.

That's how i'm familiar with seeing them fail. This is the first one i've had leak oil. :dunno:

Just did my blazer over the weekend. It was combination of fuel pump gaskets/ timing cover gasket. I now have undercoated the blazer in 5w30:haha:, It took about 2.5 litres of oil to go a hundred miles right before I fixed it:rolleyes:
