The manual says the 350 takes 5 quarts. I dropped the oil and removed the oil filter. Before adding the ne oil filter I place in almost 1 quart in to the filter. I then added 3 quarts to the engine. So a total of 4 quarts. I check my fluids and I'm above the over fill line. I should have on more quart to place in to the engine. I know the oil dipstick is original to the k5. I have not started the engine up yet.

Maybe the dipstick is reading incorrectly. The tube easily comes out from the block. I have to hold it down as I pull out the dipstick. How can I tell if I'm getting a good reading on the dipstick? Is'nt there a gasket or rubber seal that holds the dipstick in. Maybe this needs to be replaced. thoughts?

you need to run the motor... shut it down... let it sit a bit.. than check/ top off as needed...

Its supposed to be a press fit into the block. No seal.

yep.defininitly 5 quarts.1 in the filter and 4 in the pan.dipstick should be press fit as was said.it should have a lil o-ring at the end of the dipstick itself where it sits in the tube.definitely run it a minute and recheck it.
